About Amy

Amy graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with her Master of Science degree in Communication Disorders in 2012. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in English with teaching certification in English and Language Arts, grades 8-12, from Hardin-Simmons University for her undergraduate degree.

While in graduate school, Amy worked as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLP-A) in a private clinic where she was mentored by a seasoned and innovative speech-language pathologist who worked closely with an Occupational Therapist and Pediatric Neurologist to collaboratively treat the whole child. Under this model, Amy received a top-tier education in both her academic studies and real-life experience as an SLP-A. She also nannied for several families with exceptional children diagnosed with speech impairments as well as Autism, Down Syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy throughout her graduate school years.

Since graduate school, Amy has worked for pediatric home health agencies and in Texas Public Schools. She has served as a therapist, case manager, evaluation team member, SLP-A and Intern supervisor, and collaborative team member. She and her husband also served as foster parents for two years before Amy joined the staff of a local nonprofit who served foster and kinship families helping children within the foster care system.

No matter the setting, Amy has seen the difficulty parents face when navigating the pediatric therapy world, both in the medical and educational settings. She has supported parents as they advocate for their kids for the past decade and a half and wants to help you do the same.

Amy lives with her husband and two kids in Austin, Texas. She loves to read and write, play and watch sports with her family, and connect people with community resources. She would love to hear from you!
